If so, you can apply for a fantastic scholarship from the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC). The ESA-SGAC Scholarship aims to provide young people with the tools they need to participate critically in two important space congresses.
Summary of Scholarships
Thanks to this esteemed fellowship, students and young professionals from developing nations can attend the 75th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) and the 22nd Space Generation Congress (SGC). SGC is scheduled for October 10–12, 2024, and IAC will follow soon on October 14–18, 2024, both of which will occur in Milan, Italy.
Space SGC-IAC Scholarship Benefits
The chosen winners will receive a complete package that includes airfare, lodging, visa expenses, and SGC and IAC registration fees. With a total gift of €2000, the scholarship ensures that the recipient can fully participate without financial constraints. Winners, though, need to be ready to cover any unforeseen personal costs.
Qualifications
- Candidates must be SGAC members between 18 and 35 who live in or are citizens of an ESA Associate Member State or an ESA Member State.
- Judges and competition organizers are not permitted to enter the competition.
- To attend these events, winners cannot simultaneously obtain financial help from other sources.
Application Guidelines
- Video Submission: Make a two-minute film outlining the consequences of increasing human footprint in space, the moral and environmental issues raised, and why you are attending the conferences. Pay attention to the message and content. Make sure you can be seen in the video.
- CV Submission: Send in a two-page CV that is brief and contains a headshot photo and your date of birth.

Applying is easy. Use the Scholarship Submission Form on the SGAC website at (https://spacegeneration.org/sgc-iac-2024-esa-sgac-scholarship) to send in your CV and the necessary video. Ensure all your documents have your name at the top, and follow the competition rules.
Winners’ obligations: The following are anticipated of winners:
- Attend SGC and IAC 2024 and provide your full participation.
- Help out with several tasks during SGC and oversee the SGAC exhibit.
- By November 18, 2024, please submit a brief report and a video summarizing their experiences at these events.
Intellectual property and reimbursement: After the festivities and all obligations have been met, the scholarship money will be returned 30 days after the event. Participants’ submissions are protected by copyright; however, SGAC has non-exclusive reproduction rights.
